Dear sir/madam,
While I understand that students are not expected to apply for appartments
any time in a year we feel the needs, I would like to ask if I could be
offered a place from May to August, so that I could concentrate on my
MPhil thesis.
I am a 2nd year RPG, and I lived in Tsuen Wan. Last year, knowing that the
places were in such a high demand, that I had no chances of getting an
offer, I instead rent a flat in Po Lam. This February, I moved out from
that flat and so now, it takes me at least 2 hours travelling everyday. I
grow tired of the travelling and this is disturbing my studies. I will be
graduating this August, so it is to my best interests right now to stay
on-campus, concentrating on the writing of my thesis.
I think that in the summer session, the places would not be in as high a
demand. I would be grateful if I could be offered a place as soon as
possible.
Regards,
Manson Fong.

Manson,
You should prepare to submit an abstract to the PSHK annual meeting. It will be good to make a presentation on your work before you graduate.

Manson,
I hope you can recover your HD soon and get back to normal course. We do have a lot to do because our data is showing something very interesting. Take a look at the attached graph.
When you tabulate the distances for all possible pairs, you find that they are the same in all 3 sublattices for N=21,27,36, but different for different sublattices for N=24, 30. This can be explained by checking whether the 3 sublattices are equivalent, i.e., whether you have a symmetry that brings sublattice 1 to 2, etc. This explanation works except for N=21, where you have not used any symmetry that mixes the sublattices. Is it possible that there are some geometric symmetries that mix the sublattices? Please try to find them out.
For the spin correlations of N=24, 30, besides giving the distance between the sites in a pair, please also give the site numbers, together with a diagram that shows your numbering. Please double-check your data to avoid any mistake.
Let's meet next Monday at 3pm.
