Back from CUHK.. already feeling that this is really a brand new environment..
so new that I can't even imagine anyone is thinking like me.. maybe it is good..
and.. how come I am drawn to research no matter where I roam and what I initially try to do??
Research Seminar in Translation I?? --> for their MPhil students.. but can be taken by MA guys as elective..
Natural Language Processing?? --> taught by an old idealist, an EE-prof-crossing-the-linguistics-line-to-translation.. you know.. he wants a perfect conversion from 1 language to another (I think it is impossible by nature, but who know what he is trying to do?)
When these are the courses that you most look forward to, something's wrong..
They wouldn't let me take any workshop courses in the first semester, because part-time students are too unprepared (!!).. but then they allow full-time students to take coz they've got only 1 year.. that really sucks..
and the suckiest of the suckiests -- I need to choose term 2 courses as well.. how come??!! when I still don't know who the teachers will be??!!
Anyway, am really going to be darn free in the morning, and can go audit whatever courses.. well, at least from Sept to December.. MPhil just drains all my energy.. probably a few months' rest isn't really that extravagant..
when there're 30 years behind for you to "enjoy"..
